Coaches help Headley youngsters kick off their football careers
Headley's young footballers are in the best possible hands after ten coaches were put through an FA coaching course.
Headley Youth Football Club has nearly 300 young players in 18 teams of all age groups drawn from miles around.
East Hampshire District Council granted the club £250 to go towards the cost of FA Level One coaching courses.
Simon Gerhardt is training to get his Level One qualification and takes under sixes through a basic training and skills course on Saturday mornings.
He said: "We are encouraged to make sure all our sessions are in line with FA training techniques. At this age we just try to teach them the basics of football, give them some exercise and fresh air and have some fun in a safe environment. We want to these kids to stay with the club and play through the age groups until they reach the senior side."
Cllr Richard Millard said: "This is an excellent use of council funds, there are between 250 and 300 local children at this club and it is doing a fantastic job. I am proud EHDC has been able to support them in this way."
Cllr Anthony Williams said: "You can see how much the youngsters love to play football here and these coaching courses will mean they get the best tuition and the best introduction to the sport. Anything that encourages young children to get outside and get plenty of exercise is to be applauded and supported so well done Headley Youth football Club."
