Hollybrook Play Park ready for action

kids enjoy hollybrook park play area
A new state-of-the-art play area in Whitehill Bordon is open and ready for energy filled kids.

The new £146,000 Hollybrook Play Park, off Apollo Drive was opened by East Hampshire District Council and its partners in October. The park makes use of cleverly-designed ‘natural play’ equipment which safely challenges the children. The fully accessible site - that can be enjoyed by children of all levels of physical ability - features such attractions as a giro spiral, pod swing, rodeo board and a thrilling zip wire.

EHDC Cllr Ken Carter, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Country Towns, cut the ribbon on the facility alongside Mayor Bill Wain, of Whitehill Town Council, and James Wilman, of play equipment providers Proludic.

Cllr Carter addressed local children by saying: “This is your play area. Please use it, please enjoy it and please look after it.”

Whitehill Bordon has been identified as having a shortfall in play areas although its recent designation as an Eco-town could help to bring more facilities. The new equipment replaces a previous site which was 15 years old and is well placed to serve the needs of the children of the area.

Mum Elizabeth Riley, of Lindford, said her children, Luke (10) and Felicity (7), love the new equipment. “It’s absolutely fantastic,” she said. “It’s just so different. You can see from the children’s faces that they’re having great fun. There isn’t enough for children to do in Bordon so this is a Godsend.” Inset pic shows Luke (10) and Felicity (7) on the new equipment

Kelly Keddle, of Bordon, watching her three-year-old son Freddie, said: “It’s brilliant. It’s exactly what we need. I come here nearly every day with the children after school, they love it.”
