Nominate your local hero to carry the Olympic Torch
Your chance to nominate someone to be an Olympic Torchbearer next summer.
The search is on in East Hampshire for unsung heroes, tireless volunteers and inspirational characters are being sought to carry the Olympic Flame across the UK in advance of the 2012 games in London.
More than 8,000 Torchbearers are being recruited and each one will have a personal story to inspire the watching millions.
Kirsty Cope, EHDC Community Project Worker, said: “People do not have to be sportsmen or women to take part they just need to have made a difference to their community.
“It could be someone who you think always strives to do their best or who dedicates their lives to helping those around them. The people chosen for this honour will be those whose circumstances serve as an inspiration to those in their own community.”
The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay begins at Land’s End and continues from May 19 to July 27.
Once the detailed route is confirmed later this year, it is estimated that 95 per cent of the population will be within a one hour journey time of the route.
Nominate someone you know to be a London 2012 Torchbearer by Wednesday June 29.
