Get Active at Horndean outdoor gym

horndean outdoor gymPeople in Horndean will now be able to enjoy exercise in the fresh air at the village's new outdoor gym.

The outdoor gym at Jubilee Field, Crouch Lane, Horndean consists of various exercise apparatus including a leg press, ski machine, cross trainer, stepper and oblique, treadmill, fitness bike, chest press/pull down and a Tai Chi station.

The gym was officially opened by Chairman of Horndean Parish Council, Mrs Deborah Taylor, and accompanied by Mr George Hollingbery MP. The opening was well attended by all ages keen to have a go and free ice creams were on offer to cool visitors off on such a hot day.
Clerk to the Council, Tracy Predeth, said that there had been a positive responses from members of the publicabout the facilities and a number of other parish and town councils have made enquiries and want to install similar equipment in their play areas.

Resident Mark Powell, of Teal Close, said: "What a fantastic idea, it gives us all the opportunity to use some gym equipment without the expense and the hassle of actually joining a gym. I'm sure this will encourage people of all ages to have a go and reap the rewards that an active and healthy lifestyle can offer."
