Summer is coming!...Get fit cycling.

cycling4healthGet out on your bike and get fit with cycling courses from East Hampshire District Council and the CTC

Summer is coming and what better way to make the best of it than by getting on your bike with a group of friends and heading out for the day, having fun, getting fit and being sociable?

If you haven’t heard of the ‘Green Gym’, it might be time to get out and experience it. Forget expensive indoor gym membership and get out into the countryside on your bike. There are plenty of opportunities available in East Hampshire where we are spoilt with such a wonderful countryside.

If you are looking for an opportunity to take advantage of this, why not join a Cycling to Health project based at Alton Sports centre where they are offering a 10 week course, bikes provided, for adults to develop their cycling skills as part of a group.

The course is offered by Sarah Walker, CTC’s East Hampshire’s Cycling Development Officer, who works in partnership with East Hampshire District Council and is funded by the Big Lottery. The ten week course, starting on 5th May, costs only £30 per person for the entire duration with no joining fee.

Cycling has been offered at the Sports centre in Alton since October, with volunteers from Winchester University supporting the participants. Abbey Reeves, one of the students, says, “I have been amazed to see how cycling develops confidence and I have been surprised at how the regular participants improve their cycling from week to week.”

If you would like to get involved in this course, please register at Alton Sports Centre on 01420 540040.

If you would like more information or to discuss any details of the course or ask about cycling opportunities in East Hampshire, please contact Sarah Walker on 07775 595998 or email her at sarah.walker@ctc.org.uk. Details can also be found on the web at www.ctc.org.uk/easthampshire
