Your guide to getting and staying active... Give it a go!

The human body needs to be active throughout life, particularly in this day and age where people’s lifestyles are often chaotic, stressful and mostly sedentary. It takes just 30 minutes physical activity each day to help you, your family and friends to become fitter, healthier and happier and able to cope with everyday stresses and strains.

Get Active East Hampshire is here to help you enjoy and get the most from physical activity. This website will show you how to get active, where you can get active in and around East Hampshire and why it’s important to be active.

Here are some helpful tips to help you on your way to an active lifestyle.

‘30 minutes’ - All in one go or break it into manageable chunks like 2 x 15 minutes or 3 x 10 minutes each day.
Moderate intensity’ - So you feel a slight raise in heart rate and breathing rate and a slight increase in temperature.
‘Physical activity’
- Activities that you can build into your everyday life.

Walking to school or work, having a kick about with the children, getting off the bus one stop earlier, gardening or taking the stairs all count as well as organised sessions such as exercise classes, football or the gym.

‘At least 5 times per week’ – 30 minutes, 5 -7 times per week of your chosen activity is all you need to become fitter, healthier and happier.
