Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I be active?
Physical activity is known to improve your health and wellbeing, physically, mentally and socially. Up to 20 different medical conditions including heart disease, diabetes, cancer of the colon and osteoporosis can benefit from increased physical activity (Chief Medical Officer 2004). Exercise has been proved as effective in treating mild depression as medication especially if you are active in the great outdoors (Mental Health Foundation 2005). Physical activity, sport and exercise opportunities provide a great way for people to socialise and catch up with friends.

How much physically activity should I do?
