Volunteers

Volunteering is simple. It’s about giving your time to do something useful, without getting paid (apart from expenses).

In return you get the satisfaction of time and effort well spent. In addition, volunteering can be a great way to: meet new people, learn new skills and gain useful experience. It should also be fun! (http://www.do-it.org.uk/).

In England, more people offer their voluntary services to sport than any other activity. Volunteers are without doubt the backbone of British Sport. From grassroots to international level they are the unsung hero’s, without which, sport as we know it would cease to exist (http://www.sporthampshireiow.co.uk/).

Recent research by Sport England suggests that there are 5.8 million sports volunteers in the UK representing 14% of the adult population (http://www.sportengland.com/).
