Funding, Grants & Bursaries

Funding Available from East Hampshire District Council

  • Community Project Fund (Maximum of £2,000) for one off projects or equipment.

  • Revenue Funding (Maximum of £2,000) for organistions running costs, on-going projects, and annual events.

  • Community Initiatives Fund (£2,000 to £15,000 - maximum of up to 50% of total project cost.)

East Hampshire District Council welcomes applications from sports clubs and groups for grants and a Community Project Worker can give guidance on how to make an application and identify other funding. Below are a range of funding streams available from the Council.

Funding Available from Sport Hampshire and IOW

Hampshire Talented Athletes Scheme (HTAS) - Competing at the highest level in any sport is an expensive business. Travel, equipment, training, coaching and physiotherapy – the costs soon add up. The Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme - an athlete-centred support programme designed to give Hampshire’s most gifted athletes access to as much support as possible to help them reach their full potential.

The 2009 Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme is now open for applications. The deadline for submission is Friday 17th October 2008.

Financial Assistance for Young People in Sport - This fund is made available by Hampshire County Council to ensure that young people are not denied the opportunity to participate at a representative level in sport through financial assistance. Criteria must be met before an application will be considered. In some cases, the decision may be made to target support directly, for example, paying club fees or meeting additional training costs directly. This grant is only accessible by residents of the administrative county of Hampshire.

Free Access for National Sportspeople (FANS) - The FANS scheme is an important sports development initiative which aims to provide support and encouragement to the county's leading talented and elite sports performers.

Free Access for County Sportspeople (FACS) - The Hampshire FACS scheme is an important sports development initiative which aims to provide County level performers the support and encouragement they require to help them reach their full potential.

Both schemes aim to provide national level sportspeople with free access to a number of the county's sport and leisure facilities at designated off-peak times for personal training and development.

Coach, Officials and Volunteers Scholarship - The aim of the grant is to increase the number of residents qualified to coach, officiate or volunteer in sport and to raise existing standards. Up to 75% of training courses can be applied for and up to £500 per candidate.

Clubs now have to apply for this fund through the EHDC Sports Development Officer or through their National Governing Body. Each Club or organisation can receive several awards and over several application periods. There is, however, a limit to on the number of awards that can be applied for at one time and these are as follows: - 4 x Level 1's, 2 x Level 2's and 1x Level 3, 4 and 5. The deadline for applications are; 19th September 08, 19th December 08 and 20th March 09.
