What is the UKCC?

The UKCC is an endorsement of sport specific, quality coach education. If a sport is delivering UKCC endorsed coaching qualifications you can be sure that they are cutting edge.

What are the benefits?

The UKCC provides a recognised stamp of quality coaching across sport across the UK. It makes it easier to identify the right coach for the right job and will help to professionalise coaching by establishing a recognised framework for coach education. The UKCC will ensure that sports are delivering the best available, athlete centred coaching and in due course reap the rewards of sporting success, both in performance and recreational enjoyment of sport.

What am I qualified to do at each level?

There are 5 levels of qualifications and a coach will be able to perform different duties at each level.

I want to do a/the UKCC what do I do?

The UKCC is an endorsement of a sport’s coach education qualifications. This means that coaching qualifications are still delivered by the individual sports (FA for Football Coaching; PGA for Golf etc) A UKCC endorsed qualification has met standards ensuring that it is the best available coach education. Therefore if you want to do a UKCC qualification you still need to decide what sport you would like to coach and contact the relevant governing body to see whether they are delivering UKCC endorsed qualifications yet, and if not when they expect to be.

What do I need to do to transfer my existing qualification to a UKCC one?

You need to speak to your governing body and find out what provision has been made by the sport for the transfer of qualifications. In some instances this will be a bridging course or via a Continuous Professional Development opportunity.
